The Storytellers Festival is a forum for the work of renowned Aboriginal storytellers whose expertise may include traditional knowledge in philosophy, spirituality, history, politics or social structures, and contemporary Storytellers whose work has made significant contributions to theory, narrative discourse or poetics. This multi-disciplinary festival provides artists, critics, writers and academics a unique opportunity for developing links between disciplines and participating in discourse surrounding story, practice and theory.

The Storytellers Festival is also a unique opportunity for Sâkêwêwak Artist Collective to realize the meeting of shared interests from a broad base of constituents - Elders, artists, academics, critics, writers and students. Most importantly, hosting this festival presents our traditional and contemporary storytelling practitioners in a professional program that privileges our knowledge base and our worldview as Aboriginal people.
