Gabriel is a self-described multi-disciplinary artist, originally from Beardy's and Okemasis First Nation and now residing in Regina, Saskatchewan. Primarily a poet, Gabriel has been able to link his poetry into filmmaking, acting, radio, and magazine and live performances. Much of his work stems from his personal experiences from the place he grew up and still calls home. Although most of the work is dark and factual, as he believes, shock value can only come from exposing truths. His first film, "Moment of Clarity" debuted in the spring of 2003 at the Independent Film and Video Alliance's annual national conference. This film was part of a collaborative group for the MacKenzie Art Galleries exhibition "That's My Wonderful Town" in Regina, and later became a part of the MacKenzie's permanent collection. Gabriel has been published by Briarpatch Magazine and has been broadcast nationally on CBC Radio One numerous times. As a Film and Video graduate, he hopes to continue filmmaking by exploring new styles with a new film to be premiered sometime in 2005. |
