Leanne Benwell
Poet and Fiction Writer

Leanne has been writing for most of her life with various forms of poetry and prose that can be described as "free form". As a member of the Survivors Writers Group and the Wascana Writers in Regina, she finds that mentorship is an important part of her relationship with these two groups of writers. Both groups offer many opportunities to express the forms of poetic influence in her life experiences as a small town girl. Leanne is also a regular member of Sâkêwêwak Artists' Collective.

Leanne has taken classes at the University of Regina in Creative Writing and Literature in hopes of developing her own style as a writer and poet. Her writing interest's are primarily about the oppressed and the victims of social injustices. As Leanne says, "I am about trying to change the world a little at a time."
