Ovide is a self-taught artist originally from the Pukatawagan First Nation in northern Manitoba. Bighetty has been painting for the past eighteen years. His art work is based on spirituality, stories, symbolism and legends passed down by the elders. Ovide is well known throughout the Canadian provinces and Europe as an Aboriginal visual artist. Most recently he completed a mural project with the Indian Métis Christian Fellowship that is on exhibit throughout Saskatchewan and later to be published into a book. Ovide is well known for donating his works to a variety of organizations. He enjoys working with schools and children by teaching the basics of painting, the telling of legends passed down to him, supervising mural projects and teaching Cree. Ovide's major goal is to complete his degree in Business Administration through the First Nations University of Canada. |
